High River’s Historic Murals
High River’s Historic Murals in downtown High River offer a self-guided walk through local history, with art that brings the town’s stories to life. The route begins across from the Museum of the Highwood and leads visitors past murals created by local artists. Each work depicts an important person or moment from High River’s past, turning downtown streets into an open-air window on the community’s heritage. The first murals were commissioned by the municipal government as part of a culture and heritage initiative in the early 1990s. Since then, new murals, sculptures and other works by local artists have joined the collection, giving visitors more to discover as they explore the route on foot.
