The Fort Museum of the North West Mounted Police in Fort Macleod offers an immersive historic fort experience with engaging exhibits and live Musical Ride performances. Set within a re-creation of the 1874 fort, this museum preserves the stories of the North West Mounted Police and the First Nations of southern Alberta. Visitors can explore interpretive displays, period buildings and artifacts that bring early prairie life and policing history to life. In July and August, the on-site RCMP Musical Ride showcases the original NWMP routine with a new physically distant format, featuring lance demonstrations and manoeuvres such as the Wagon Wheel. Guests can also access online content, follow a self-guided tour and use the On This Spot App to deepen their understanding of the region’s past.
