Start on Whyte Avenue and wander up sidestreets and down back lanes to discover 70+ murals, graffiti walls, and street art. Whyte Avenue was originally at the core of the old city of Strathcona. It is named after Sir William Whyte, who served as superintendent of the Canadian Pacific Railway’s western division starting in 1886. King George V knighted him in 1911. Edmonton hosts more than 50 festivals annually, including the renowned International Fringe Festival. Whatever the celebration, you’ll catch the fun in Whyte District.
